The Latino economy in Minnesota is an estimated $10 billion. It includes $5 billion in income and $5+ billion in residential real estate. Latinos pay an estimated $600+ million in state and local taxes. Latino renters pay $35 million monthly to property owners. The 8000+ businesses pay close to $300 million in annual payroll and provide more than 8000 jobs to Minnesotans. Undocumented workers play a critical role in key sectors of the economy – agriculture, food processing, hospitality and construction. There are an estimated 140,000 Latino workers in Minnesota and 113,000 youth in the educational system. The rich cultural capital of Latinos is reflected in food, music, art and culture across Minnesota.
