75 candidates across 49 Cities and diverse political parties in Minnesota, including Governor Walz responded to the ALANA Survey. This includes 62 DFL, 11 GOP and 2 independent/Legal Marijuana candidates in about a third of all House and Senate districts in Minnesota.
The ALANA Brain Trust launched a survey to over 300 candidates for Minnesota House, Senate, Congress, Governor, and other statewide offices. An estimate of the ALANA economy they represent was included in the email.
The survey asked the following questions:
- Will you celebrate the value of ALANA communities in your district/Minnesota reflected in the many roles they play in the economy – entrepreneurs, critical workforce, as homeowners/renters, students, artists, and farmers?
- Will you be accessible to your ALANA constituents as they seek access to resources and opportunities?
- Which of these policy areas will you champion to close the racial disparity gap?
- Will you work with organizations like the ALANA Brain Trust to develop solutions to the policy areas listed above.
- Would you support our recommendation that at least 20 percent of the budget surplus be invested in ALANA wealth and community building? (ALANA communities make up more than 20 percent of the population of Minnesota).
Results of the Survey was shared at the ALANA Political Summit, October 18, 2022.
